Emoplux

The European Month of photography Festival in Luxembourg (emoplux) is a major international festival dedicated to photography and visual culture. Initiated in 2006 by Café-Crème asbl in partnership with the leading photo institutions in Paris, Berlin and Vienna, and thanks to the participation of near all art institutions in Luxembourg, the Festival is able to offer a diversified and international platform for the exchange of ideas, artistic expression and engagement with photography in all its forms.

De quelle histoire ou fiction le corps photographié aujourd’hui est-il l’image ?
Sous le titre général de BodyFiction(s), la septième édition du festival Mois européen de la photographie au Luxembourg présentait des œuvres d’une vingtaine d’artistes-photographes émergents qui s’intéressent aux nouvelles représentations du corps et de la figure humaine.
Les positions artistiques de cette nouvelle génération de photographes – en grande majorité des femmes – divergent des modèles classiques par une démarche plus libre et une interrogation souvent inquiète – voire inquiétante – des modèles traditionnels.
Caractérisée par la fragmentation et la dislocation du corps, cette photographie s’inscrit dans un contexte de mutations esthétiques marquées par une interrogation sur les genres masculins ou féminins et de façon générale par une remise en question des rôles et caractéristiques des sexes. Read more…
